About This Message
David Brown - August 4, 2024While the nations rage, there is a peace available for children of God—a peace comes from being still before God. If we can learn to find stillness alone with God, then we can learn to have peace in any situation. It is only in silence before God that we can face our weaknesses, anxieties, and troubles so that God can shed his light on these areas. In Psalm 46, the sons of Korah show us that stillness starts when we see God as a present help in trouble. He isn’t just working things out for good from a distance; rather, he is with us, in the situation, working it out for good. This beautiful reality gives us permission to ask God in every difficult situation: What are you doing in the midst of this? In silence, we recognize and receive God’s greater work in the midst of our troubles, and we reject the temptation to fear or “give way.” Instead, while the world is shaken, we stand firm in stillness and trust—offering the world a living hope and a peace that endures even through the threat of death. As we live out this calm trust, we mirror the heart of Christ, the innocent lamb who carried out God’s purposes without fear.
