The Council of God Part II

In God’s original design, we were called into his council—to be raised to rest with him, rule with him, and spread his image through all creation. Through sin, we have fallen from God’s original intention; but through Christ, God is restoring it to us. When Jesus called Peter, James, and John up to the mountain to see his glory along with Moses and Elijah, he was giving a picture of what he planned to do for his new covenant people— invite them back up to the throne room. In Ephesians 4, Paul shows us that while Jesus dethroned the ruling spirits over the nations, he has indeed raised us up to sit again in the council of God. This high calling isn’t physical or geographical. The kingdom of God is here—though we can’t see it yet. Through faith, already we are seated with Christ. Already, we have been given the authority we lost at Eden, if only we will embrace this revelation from above.
