You Are Anointed

From the beginning, God intended for us to serve as priests between the spiritual and material. He demonstrated this through an anointing—the smearing of supernatural life into humanity with the fragrance of Eden— an act that he would extend to the Levitical priesthood, and in the new covenant, to all of his sons and daughters. Our calling is to be spiritually endowed with supernatural abilities that only God could give. With the oil of the Spirit, the Father gives measures of gifts like prophecy, creativity, teaching, and service. This anointing provides power to help the body of Christ and to overcome the enemy’s resistance against our calling, just as David overcame the enemy after he was anointed. In his earthly life, Jesus showed us what it looks like to live in the anointing. With moment by moment dependence on the Spirit, he brought God’s power to earth and defeated the schemes of the devil.
